Childhood Education

Holy Communion Class

Holy Communion instruction is offered for children in second or third grades in the form of an eight-week class for children and at least one parent. Children explore the Holy Eucharist through learning centers, games, role-playing, discussion, and family activities. The themes are as follows:

We Gather as a Family
We Gather to Celebrate
We Gather to Listen and Learn
We Gather to Care and Share
We Gather to Make Peace and be Forgiven
We Gather to Give Thanks for Creation and New Life
We Gather to Share a Meal
We Gather to Go Out to Make a Better World

The class meets in the fall culminating in special participation in the All Saints Sunday service. A minimum number of students is required, and information will be posted in the STAR newsletter with registration details and contact information.

Weaving God’s Promises

“Weaving God’s Promises”, an Episcopal curriculum, introduces children in Pre-K through 6th to a variety of Bible stories, liturgical seasons and saints. “Weaving God’s Promises” encourages a flexible and “hands-on” approach to exploring the stories. It also emphasizes the links among the stories in the Bible, our Episcopal tradition, and our lives today.

Intersection

“Intersection” is a youth curriculum that encourages our 7th through 12th graders to connect the writings of the Bible with the world today and with their own lives. It emphasizes study through active participation, discussion and reflection.

Camp Epiphany

“Camp Epiphany”, a week-long Vacation Bible School for children completing kindergarten through sixth grade, is scheduled for each summer in June. Through stories, lessons, crafts, games and service projects children examine how God works through our lives and celebrate God’s great love for each of us. The camp theme and dates are announced by early spring.

Trunks of Treats

On Halloween night, Epiphany’s Children & Youth Ministries offer not only Epiphany’s kids a special way to safely “Trick or Treat”, but the neighborhood children and families, as well. Held on Epiphany’s campus, it is a wonderful way to enjoy Halloween without the worry of kids wandering the streets and others’ properties after dark…and it’s a great way to unload all that extra candy you may have stockpiled! Trunks of Treats is not short on fun and games, too. Come and join us for a “sweet” time! Contact the parish office for more information and how you and your family can participate.

A Walk Through Bethlehem

Tour Bethlehem! So real you’ll feel like you’ve been there! Held during two nights during Advent (see the calendar on Home Page for this year’s dates and times…Dec. 1 & 2), A Walk Through Bethlehem is free and fun for the entire family. Visit Bethlehem village square on the Epiphany campus…taste traditional foods, even roast lamb! Try your hand at pottery, listen to folk music, and visit a farmer’s market and carpenter’s shop. Children receive a passport and a stamp for visiting the event’s booths. Prizes awarded for completed stamped passports! Epiphany also invites those that attend to bring canned goods to donate in order to benefit Paz de Cristo and Matthew’s Crossing Food Bank for those in need during the Christmas season.
